What these licenses mean for a property manager

Insurance is sold state by state. A producer licence in a state means the agency can quote, bind and service coverage for properties and companies there, and that the state's department of insurance regulates how it does so. If your state appears in the table, yes. Coverage is not sold for properties in states that are not listed. Licensing is renewed on each state's cycle and the table is updated when a licence is added or renewed.

Each state issues its own licence number. Several states share the national producer number format, which is why some numbers look alike, while others use their own scheme.

How do I verify a licence?

Every state department of insurance publishes a licence lookup. Search for the agency name or the licence number from the table; owners, HOAs and permit offices that ask for proof of licensing can be sent that lookup result together with a certificate of insurance.
